Copenhagen/Kiew. Cardinal Anders Arborelius in Stockholm and Bishop Erik Varden in Trondheim left today for a visit to Ukraine in order to show solidarity and support.
The two-day visit was made possible thanks to His Eminence Mgr. Bohdan Dzyurakh CSsR, Superior of Catholic Ukrainians of the Byzantine Rite in Germany and Scandinavia.
“This is about expressing our solidarity with the suffering nation and Christians of Ukraine,” Bishop Varden said of the visit.
The agenda of the visit includes a meeting with the Supreme Archbishop of Kyiv – Venerable Sviatoslav Shevchuk and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Kyiv – Bishop Vitalii Kryvytskyi SDB.
In addition, two representatives of the Nordic Bishops’ Council will visit several cities in the vicinity of Kiev that were destroyed by the Russian army during the invasion in 2022.
A meeting with the Canadian ambassador to Ukraine, Larisa Galadza, is scheduled for tomorrow. She is the daughter of a well-known Greek Catholic priest from Canada, Roman Galadza.
