Blessing of a memorial stone for French sailors

On July 10th 2024, there will be a pilgrimage to the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Mass will be held in the church at Staðarstaður on the southern side of the peninsula. At the same occasion, the blessing of a memorial stone for French sailors who perished on the shores of Snæfellsnes in March 1870 and are buried in the cemetery at Staðarstaður, will take place.

The itinerary is as follows:
8:30 Departure from Landakot (Túngata 13, 101 Reykjavík)
9:00 Departure from Breiðholt (Raufarseli 4, 109 Reykjavík)
10:00 – 10:15 Fifteen minute break in Borgarnes
11:00 – 12:30 Lunch break at the N1-station in Bakkatunga
12:30 To Staðarstaður
13:00 Blessing of the monument, followed by Holy Mass
14:30 To Hellnar
15:00 Maríulind
16:00 / 16:30 To Reykjavík
