The Year of Saint Francis of Assisi has begun!

From January 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the Church will celebrate the Year of Saint Francis, to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Saint’s death, Pope Leo XIV announced.

– Everyone is invited to follow the example of the Saint of Assisi, becoming models of holiness of life and tireless witnesses of peace.

– The Apostolic Penitentiary grants a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions to all who visit a Franciscan monastery church or place of worship dedicated to St. Francis anywhere in the world as a pilgrimage. Here you can read the decree of Pope Leo XIV on the Year of Saint Francis:
