On April 9, 2024, the first container arrived with new tiles for the roof of the cathedral. The tiles arrive in containers but are transported by forklift onto the church grounds. Two containers are expected later. Once the construction crane has been installed, the activity area to the east of the church will be fenced off. Scaffolding will be placed on the east side and once they are in place, work will begin on the roof.
The most urgent and extensive part of the ongoing repairs of the cathedral is the renovation of the cathedral’s roof.
